No, because ACQUA SANA products do not remove limescale. Instead, they neutralize and transform it so that it doesn’t settle in pipes or on heating elements.

 

Traditional water softeners only treat hot water. Cold water systems and appliances remain exposed to scale. Installation almost always requires a professional to handle it. When you add the high initial cost, maintenance, and consumables, the bill quickly adds up! There's also excess water consumption during the discharge of salty water. Finally, hot water may sometimes change in taste due to the presence of sodium.

Salt-based softeners do eliminate calcium, but they come with major drawbacks: the released sodium is a highly polluting and harmful substance, both for human health and for plumbing systems.

💧 How do the magnets in the magnetic water softener work?​

The magnetic device prevents scale buildup on plumbing installations without altering the water’s composition and without adding chemicals or salt.

Calcium and bicarbonate ions—responsible for limescale formation—naturally flow through pipes with the water. As the water passes through the section equipped with magnets, these ions undergo successive polarity shifts due to the magnetic fields. This continuous polarity change leads to the breaking up  of crystals and the formation of non-encrusting powder (aragonite). This process, known as nucleation, ensures that scale does not adhere to pipes or heating elements.

The technology is specifically designed to address the high calcium content found in waters, and is based on the principles of Magneto-Hydro-Dynamics (MHD). The system's efficiency is independent of the water’s flow speed, thanks to the strategic number and positioning of the magnets.

💧 Does the performance of ACQUA SANA products depend on the installation materials, pipe diameter, or wall thickness?​

No, the product is effective regardless of the pipe material, its diameter, or wall thickness. It performs reliably within a pressure range of 0 to 9 bars.

Water flow can range from 25 liters/mn to 300 liters/minute.

Distance does not influence performance either, provided the system is closed.

The product’s efficiency remains consistent over time. The only factor that could potentially affect performance is magnet aging; however, the magnets remain fully effective for at least 30 years.
